Contaminated Land Assessment, Remediation and Management
Management of a variety contaminated sites through contamination assessment and remediation to ensure appropriate management strategies can be applied at the sites. Contaminated site management services have been provided for government and industrial clients and for a number of sites of varying sizes and contamination complexity. Specific works include:
- Management of environmental consultants / contractors undertaking contamination and risk assessment and remedial works.
- Liaison with community representatives to ensure delivery of acceptable final land-uses.
- Peer review of contamination assessment reports, remediation plans and site management plans including technical assessment of remediation plan components and auditing of field work procedures.
- Review of environmental management plans including health and safety plans for remedial works on heavily contaminated sites.
Water and Waste Management
Investigation, management, supervision, monitoring and evaluation (including liaison with regulatory authorities) for a variety of water and waste management projects. Projects have been completed in the areas of solid and hazardous waste, landfill leachate and contaminated groundwater characterisation, treatment and management, landfill design, mine tailings and wastewater management. Specific projects include:
- Management of tailings and water, Nickel Refinery, North Queensland
- Tailings and water management strategy, Bauxite mine, Cape York Peninsula
- Environmental management and reporting, Municipal and industrial waste landfills, South East Queensland
Environmental Monitoring
Development, operation and management of environmental monitoring systems (groundwater, surface-water, soil-gas, particulate and VOC) for a range of sites and catchments. Development and management of ecological monitoring programs including baseline and reference site monitoring to determine potential impacts of sites and facilities. Negotiation of requirements for monitoring programs with regulatory agencies. Lecturer in environmental monitoring undergraduate subject for Civil Engineering Department at The University of Queensland.
