Ian Christesen
has more than 20 years experience in public governance, environmental
management and policy with a strong focus in Queensland. Ian has achieved a high level of
expertise and knowledge in all levels of local, state and national government
functions. He has been led policy development and implementation across areas
including pollution, community health and safety and waste management.
Ian has been involved in numerous
policy and governance roles, providing expert guidance, advice and direction in
Queensland
and abroad. He has more than 10 years senior executive experience in policy and
programme management within Brisbane City Council where he was a Program
Manager responsible for a staff of 60 and an annual budget in excess of $100
million.
Ian was a member of the Council's Planning
Committee which reviewed all major developments and made recommendations to
Council. He also chaired Council's Corporate Sustainability Committee and
the cross program Environment Management and Compliance Levy Committee with a
budget of > $20 million.
Prior to this Ian was an elected
Councillor and Chair of the Town Planning Committee for Noosa Council.
More recently Ian has been
advising the government of Abu Dhabi (UAE) in refining governance arrangements
to assist the improvement of the waste management of the Emirate.
