Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategy
Development
Project
management, support and co-ordination roles for major environmental impact
assessment and strategy development programs in Queensland and New South Wales,
for Commonwealth, State and Local Governments and the mining and mineral
processing sectors. Projects have ranged up to 5 years and $15 million in
value and involved a wide range and large number of government, industry and
community stakeholders and extensive consultation work and consensus building
activities.
Environmental Management Systems and Auditing
Co-ordination,
development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) for
private and public sector organisations consistent with the International
Standard ISO14001. Management system reviews and environmental audit programs
for a wide variety of industry and public sector clients, including Local
Government, manufacturing, chemical, electronics, property and other industrial
/ commercial operations for business portfolios valued in excess of $100
million. Assessment of regulatory compliance and potential liabilities
and provision of due diligence information in relation to company assets and
operations prior to purchase and divestment, by both private sale and public
offering.
Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation
Assessment,
management and remediation of a wide range of contaminated sites, ranging from
due diligence reports for property transactions to major clean-up and site
management projects of up to 8 years and $40 million in value. EPA signatory and independent Third Party
Reviewer for contaminated land management for major re-development projects.
Technical
studies completed have included soil and groundwater sampling, design and
installation of groundwater monitoring bore networks, hydrogeological and
hydrogeochemical analysis, determination of site clean-up standards and design,
implementation and validation of remedial work programs. Projects have
been undertaken for a variety of industry sectors in Australia and South East
Asia, including major power generation authorities, retail oil and gas,
chemical, manufacturing, electronics, agricultural, mining and mineral
processing, property transfer, land development and Local, State and Commonwealth
Government.
Water and Waste Management
Investigation, management, supervision,
monitoring and evaluation (including liaison with regulatory authorities) for a
variety of water and waste management projects, encompassing solid wastes,
liquid industrial and hazardous waste, landfill gas feasibility studies and
recovery investigations, leachate characterisation, landfill design and siting,
mine tailings, wastewaters, sludges, mineral processing, industrial, commercial
and domestic operations for a number of private and public sector projects in
Australia. Manager of South East Queensland's hazardous waste treatment
operations at Willawong and the Gurulmundi Secure Landfill and proposed new
Liquid Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant Project.
Water Supply Development and Management

construction supervision and management of groundwater supplies ranging from
200 to 20,000 ML per annum. Work has included
conceptual desk studies, exploration/development program formulation, drilling
supervision, test pumping, data interpretation, computer modelling, drilling
contract preparation, wellfield construction supervision, supply reliability
studies, wellfield performance reviews, project management of water supply
systems, water usage reviews and preparation of Government reports for
licensing purposes. Drilling
supervision, piezometer installation, test pumping, hydraulic analysis,
computer modelling, predictive studies of groundwater mine pit inflow
potential, instability due to seam pressurisation and hydrogeological water
balance calculations and modelling for various open pit and dredge pond mining
operations.
Projects have included groundwater supply
studies for various small to large scale projects in Queensland, New South
Wales and South East Asia.
